The Issues

Long before Georgia’s worst drought ever, Paulding voters saw the need for a new water source and voted over 3-1* to build a new county reservoir.

Instead, voters got an airport they had rejected over 2-1* and a $65 million government complex. Yet, Paulding still faces severe water shortages!

David Austin is running for Commission Chairman because he believes elected officials should listen to the voters... and implement their priorities... not the priorities of the elected officials.

* Special Election March 16,1999

Paulding County faces real problems:

  • Water Shortages
  • Uncompleted Reservoir
  • Deteriorating Roads
  • Increasing Property Taxes
  • Failing Sewer Plants
  • Illegal Alien Influx
  • Poorly planned growth

As your County Commission Chairman, David Austin will:

  • Implement the will of the voters by accelerating the county reservoir project and identifying additional water sources for the residents!
  • Stop out-of-control property taxes that jumped an average of 27% last year for $180,000 home – when housing values were declining!
  • Implement Smart Growth policies to ensure that development serves the community rather than leading to overpopulation!
  • Develop and implement an independent assessment of Paulding’s infrastructure to ensure that roads, sewer and water are in place for attracting jobs and businesses to Paulding County!
  • Ensure county government works with the Paulding County School Board and Superintendent to plan for our children’s educational needs!
  • Work towards a new hospital for Paulding!
  • Lower the age of exemption for school taxes to age 62!
  • Clean up litter on roads and penalize repeat offenders!
